Wounded Heroes Australia is a national charity providing 24/7 crisis support for Australian Defence Force (ADF) members, veterans and their families experiencing financial crisis, homeless or at risk, or family and domestic violence.
We are delivering a Skilling Queenslanders for Work program located in our Veteran Centre OpShop at Hyde Park and seeking 8 x Cert I in Workplace Skills Trainees (eligibility criteria applies) to work on a 20-week, full time, paid traineeship program. Working hours are 8am to 4pm Mon-Fri. This program provides entry-level business and retail skills and you will gain practical experience, learn essential skills and set yourself up for future employment or further education - all while getting paid! The focus of this program is to provide you with the skills to gain employment post program.
Working within our OpShop, your duties will be learning all aspects of OpShop operations, receiving donated goods, detailing, and pricing of donated goods, merchandising, customer service, cash handling/eftpos, cleaning and general duties. Must be able to stand for the entire shift, ability to work as a team and/or autonomously, able to follow directions from the supervisor and have excellent personal hygiene, presentation, and communication skills.
This program is being delivered in our Veteran Centre located at The Hyde Park Centre (next to Cash Converters) and is within walking distance to Castletown Shopping Centre.
Eligibility criteria - applicants must be currently unemployed; aged 16+ and not enrolled in school; not have previously completed a Skilling Queenslanders for Work funded program; not have previously completed a business traineeship; reside in Queensland; be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
