The Role:
We have a permanent position available for a motivated and talented sales estimator to join our Specialized Vehicles Division.
This role will be responsible for preparing and submitting quotations, proposals, and tenders for various specialized projects located at our Tomago site.
This role will involve:
* Preparing and submitting quotations, proposals, and tenders in accordance with company standards.
* Coordinating the preparation of compliant customer sales and tender submissions, quotes, and bids on time to the required standards.
* Identifying and reviewing sales and tender opportunities, ensuring logging of all enquiries, due dates, actions, and work required to prepare tenders/bids.
* Building and maintaining customer and supplier relationships.
* Participating in customer discussions to clarify performance aspects of tenders.
* Negotiating with customers and suppliers to achieve the best business outcomes.
* Interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications to determine quantities and types of materials and/or components required.
* Estimating quantities of and costs for materials and labor hours required.
* Driving information gathering using budgets, historical data, past estimates, and business unit subject matter experts for analysis and compilation of cost estimates.
* Providing cost-saving and design alternatives to provide competitive project delivery.
* Being involved in tender kick-off, progress reviews, and handover participating in the handover of successful tenders to the project delivery team for execution.
To be considered for this role, you will:
* Have a proven ability to provide innovative, practical, and cost-effective solutions for manufacture.
* Have strong experience with Australian and international standards.
* Have previous practical experience within engineering, design, fabrication, mechanical/electrical trade, or construction-related industry.
* Be able to thrive on solving problems and creating innovative solutions.
* Enjoy a fast pace where thinking on your feet and managing multiple tenders energizes you.
* Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Have excellent communication (both written and verbal) skills.
* Be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products – in particular Outlook, Word, and Excel.
* Experience with CAD systems such as Autodesk Inventor (preferred but not essential).
