Health & Safety Advisor - National Masonry Victoria
Reports to: Site Manager
Location: Riding Boundary Road, Deer Park (Truganina) VIC 3023.
This position offers a flexible work schedule of 3 to 5 days per week.
Primary Position Objective:
To serve as the health & safety advisor for all health, safety, and workers' compensation matters at our Victoria site. You will coach operational leaders and actively assist in fostering a safe workplace with a strong safety culture. Collaborating with management, ensure all risks are identified and adequately controlled.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement business-level policies, procedures, and SOPs.
* Engage leaders and promote consistent safety standards.
* Perform assurance functions and prepare concise reports for management.
* Identify and develop initiatives that lead to measurable safety performance improvements.
* Assist leaders with implementing corrective actions and safety improvements.
* Collect relevant data and prepare reports as needed.
* Review and manage workers’ compensation claims effectively.
* Monitor legal compliance related to safety and workers' compensation, providing advice to site leaders.
General Accountabilities
* Ensure an efficient procedures framework is in place.
* Identify inconsistencies through audits and inspections, working with staff to develop corrective actions.
* Maintain safety systems, processes, and records.
* Deliver accurate and timely business reports.
* Assist injured workers in returning to work promptly.
* Stay updated on safety and workers' compensation legislation and communicate changes clearly.
Experience, Qualifications, and Education
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a safety role within manufacturing or engineering environments in Australia.
* Formal safety training.
* Experience in safety and quality system auditing.
* Knowledge of workers’ compensation processes, including return-to-work and claims management.
* History of reducing workplace injuries.
* Incident investigation training.
* Experience in delivering safety training and preparing procedural materials.
* Ability to conduct risk assessments.
* Experience in environmental management.
* Strong personal planning and organizational skills.
* Effective leadership and communication skills.
* Attention to detail and inquisitive mindset.
* Ability to interpret legislation and communicate requirements clearly.
* Proven ability to review and update safety documentation.
* Energetic, enthusiastic, and relationship-builder.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A “Hands-On” approach is essential for this role.
