**About the role**
**St Anthony's Catholic College, Deeragun** **is seeking an experienced **Laboratory Technician **to commence on 20 January 2024. This position is **term time, permanent,** 21 hours per week (3 days/week) during school term time.
**The Laboratory Technician **is required to manage the preparation and delivery of equipment and materials for classes in the Science Learning Area.** **The position will maintain control of equipment and laboratories in order to support the Science programs throughout the College, in accordance with Work Health and Safety and applicable legislative requirements.
**Key Accountabilities**
- Provide effective and knowledgeable support for the science programs throughout the College and practical support to Science Department teaching staff
- Prepare and maintain accurate laboratory records in accordance with file maintenance procedures
- Prepare, maintain, organise, set-up and dismantle equipment and materials for routine experiments or student projects and dispose of waste materials as appropriate
- Within existing WHS routines, methods and procedures, prepare, maintain and dispense stock solutions, simple chemical mixtures and compounds, cultures or similar materials
- Maintain regular communication with science department staff and the College Work Health and Safety Officer to maintain laboratory compliance.

- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimum supervision
- The ability to work collaboratively in a school context and engage in discussion of contemporary issues and research to ensure a commitment to improve and achieve best practice standards
- Understanding of Work Health and Safety and associated safe work practices within a laboratory setting
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and to organise and prioritise tasks in a busy environment
- Ability to manage conflicting and changing priorities ensuring diligence and professionalism
- A demonstrated ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships
- Enthusiastic, energetic, flexible and able to show initiative.
**Mandatory Criteria**
- Minimum Certificate 3 in Laboratory Skills/Techniques or demonstrated industry experience
