Senior Landscape Architect – Melbourne

MODE's Melbourne studio is a growing and highly collaborative team of 12 staff, working across Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Interior Design and Urban Design. We are looking for a Senior Landscape Architect to join this talented and dedicated team. This permanent, full‐time opportunity plays a key role in leading and delivering projects within our multidisciplinary practice, spanning a diverse range of sectors offering breadth, complexity, and meaningful impact across communities.

As part of the broader national MODE network, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to diverse projects throughout Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, while also engaging with multidisciplinary teams and specialist expertise across Australia and New Zealand. The studio offers the energy and connectivity of a national practice, combined with the culture, autonomy and local relationships of a close‐knit Melbourne team.

Skills & Experience

Senior Landscape Architects will work under the direction of the State (Victorian) Landscape Architecture Lead developing close working relationships with their team to deliver high quality outcomes. They will collaborate in a highly effective manner, guiding, mentoring, and overviewing junior staff as appropriate to meet deadlines and project requirements.

Profile and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have

* Professional Registration & Experience: An accredited qualification in Landscape Architecture and registration with AILA, supported by 10‐15 years of post‐graduate experience across diverse sectors and project scales. Demonstrated capability leading projects and employing high‐level problem solving from concept design to construction phase services.
* Design & Technical Capability: A strong understanding of design philosophy supported by advanced documentation skills and sound knowledge of relevant codes and standards. Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Suite. Revit and BIM skills would be advantageous.
* Project Leadership: Proven ability to manage client and stakeholder relationships, prepare fee proposals, and deliver sound project outcomes. Confidence in leading multidisciplinary teams while balancing scope, time, cost and quality objectives.
* Collaborative Approach: Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, consultants and contractors, enabling team growth and success.

You will be able to

* Lead End‐to‐End Project Delivery: Lead and manage landscape architecture projects from concept through to detailed documentation and construction. Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs and planning processes to ensure high‐quality, compliant outcomes.
* Manage Technical & Construction Phases: Coordinate sub‐consultant inputs, manage documentation packages, and undertake contract administration and construction phase services. Ensure projects are delivered within agreed parameters, in line with legislative and firm requirements.
* Contribute to Commercial Outcomes: Prepare and contribute to fee proposals, tenders and project submissions to support profitable delivery. Assist with Business Development activities and maintain quality assurance processes and studio standards.
* Support Team Performance: Demonstrate a high degree of self‐motivation and an ability to inspire and guide others, providing mentorship to graduate landscape architects and technicians. Support effective resource allocation and contribute to continuous improvement across projects and studio operations.
