Post Graduate Fellow in Pain Medicine

Hunter Integrated Pain Service

Fixed Term Temporary Part Time | 0.5 FTE August 2026 until 31 January 2027

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and committed Post Graduate Fellow in Pain Medicine to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team. This role provides a unique opportunity to undertake accredited pain medicine training while contributing to high‐quality clinical care across inpatient, outpatient, procedural and consultative services.

You will:

* Develop advanced skills in evidence‐based pain management under the supervision of experienced pain medicine specialists.
* Participate in diagnostic assessments, procedural work, group programs and multidisciplinary case management.
* Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and quality improvement activities.
* Play an active role in clinical governance, patient safety and service development.
* Work collaboratively with acute pain services, surgical teams, primary care and other specialist units to deliver coordinated and patient centred care.

About the Service

Hunter Integrated Pain Service, located in the beautiful city of Newcastle, is a tertiary hospital based pain management service accredited by the faculty of pain medicine for both years of pain training (Core training and Professional Development). Based in the Hunter New England Local Health District, it services patients across a wide geographical area receiving referrals for patients with chronic non‐cancer pain, cancer pain, end of life pain and acute complex pain. HIPS has a holistic approach to pain management and is a multidisciplinary service comprising of pain medical specialist, nurse specialist, clinical psychologist, psychiatrist, pain physiotherapist and dietitians.

Essential requirements

* Have MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible to be registered with the Medical Board of Australia. Should hold a specialist degree in the accepted disciplines as per Faculty of Pain Medicine.
* Meet the registration requirements for a trainee of the Faculty of Pain Medicine.
* Ability to meet supervision requirements applicable to the role.
