Join a business in the middle of a significant transformation, where change is creating real opportunity and growth is firmly on the agenda. We're looking for a high-performing merchandise or category leader to take ownership of a newly scoped category and play a key role in shaping its future direction and performance. This role has been created as part of a broader reset of the division's category strategy. You'll step into a portfolio that requires fresh thinking, strong supplier engagement and a clear commercial plan to unlock its potential. A major focus of the role will be rebuilding supplier confidence, winning back key partners and strengthening relationships that will underpin long‐term category growth. Alongside category ownership, you'll also lead the promotional program across the entire division. This includes driving the planning and execution of catalogue activity and promotional campaigns, working closely with sales, marketing and product teams to ensure strong commercial outcomes and a consistent go‐to‐market approach.
The Opportunity
You'll be responsible for developing and executing the category strategy in line with the broader divisional direction. Working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders, you'll focus on building strong partnerships, improving commercial performance and ensuring the category is positioned for sustainable growth.
Key Accountabilities
* Manage and rebuild supplier relationships across the category, re‐establishing trust and creating long‐term strategic partnerships.
* Develop and execute the category strategy, aligning it closely with the broader divisional growth agenda.
* Lead the promotional program for the division, including catalogue planning and execution, ensuring campaigns deliver strong sales and margin outcomes.
* Work cross‐functionally with sales, marketing, product and supply chain teams to ensure coordinated and effective go‐to‐market activity.
* Drive demand planning and inventory management across national distribution centres, balancing stock availability with healthy inventory turns.
* Support the division's broader transformation by embedding stronger processes, clearer structure and improved commercial discipline.
About You
You bring 5–10 years' experience in merchandise or category management, ideally within trade, B2B, wholesale, industrial or automotive environments. You're commercially sharp, resilient and confident managing complex supplier relationships. You know how to influence stakeholders, negotiate effectively and rekindle relationships with past suppliers and bringthem on the journey.
You're also comfortable operating in a business that is evolving. Rather than being unsettled by change, you see it as an opportunity to reset, build stronger foundations and deliver better commercial outcomes.
What's on Offer
This is a career‐defining opportunity to join a well‐regarded business at a pivotal moment. You'll have the autonomy to shape a category, the support of an engaged leadership team, and the chance to make a measurable impact on a significant revenue portfolio.
