The Location and Lifestyle:
Mt Carbine has a rich history of tungsten production and is strategically and conveniently located only 75 kms from the beautiful seaside town of Port Douglas in Far North Queensland where the Daintree Forest meets the Great Barrier Reef. The Mt Carbine Tungsten mine is 120km North of Cairns International Airport via sealed highway. Neighboring the Mt Carbine township on the Mulligan Highway, The Mt Carbine Tungsten Mine is central to Mossman, Port Douglas, Mareeba, Julatten and Mt Molloy. For those with families, there is a choice of private and public schools, as well as universities and technical education facilities in the area.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quarry Manager to lead the safe and efficient operation of our quarry. Reporting directly to the General Manager | Site Senior Executive, this role is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and continuous improvement of quarry operations.
The Quarry Manager will provide strong frontline leadership to production crews, ensuring operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with legislative and company requirements. You will be responsible for coordinating daily production activities, optimising resources, maintaining operational standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will work closely with site teams to deliver production targets, foster a strong safety culture, and support the development of employees while maintaining high operational and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage quarry operations to meet production targets, budgets, and quality standards.
* Oversee load and haul, crushing, stockpiling, and load-out activities to ensure efficiency and product quality.
* Ensure all plant and equipment maintenance is planned and carried out effectively.
* Lead and develop the quarry team, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
* Drive strong safety leadership and ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
* Develop production plans and manage operational costs and site budgets.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and the local community.
* Identify opportunities for operational improvements and efficiency gains.
Key Selection Criteria:
* Minimum 5 years' experience in quarrying, mining, or crushing operations.
* Diploma or Certificate in Extractive Industries (or equivalent).
* Hold relevant Supervisor qualifications (S123).
* Current C Class Driver’s Licence (essential).
* Current Queensland Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence (Essential).
* RII competencies and current First Aid/CPR certification.
* Demonstrated commitment to safety, with clear and effective communication skills.
