Latrobe City Council is seeking a Coordinator Rates to lead and enhance the delivery of essential revenue and rating services that directly support our community. About the Role
As Coordinator Rates, you will provide leadership and coordination to the Rates Team, ensuring the effective delivery of Council's revenue, rating, property, and debt collection services in accordance with legislation and Council policies.
You will play a pivotal role in:
* Overseeing Council's property, rating, and debt collection processes
* Driving operational efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives
* Fostering a positive, collaborative team culture
* Ensuring a high standard of customer service for Council stakeholders
This role offers the opportunity to influence systems, processes, and people, while contributing meaningfully to Council's financial sustainability and service excellence.
About You
You are a confident and capable leader with a strong background in accounting, rates, or revenue administration. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy solving complex problems, and are motivated by delivering high-quality outcomes for both your team and the community.
You bring a proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to balance operational demands with strategic thinking.
Qualifications & Experience
* Extensive relevant accounting experience is essential.
* Demonstrated experience using office software, financial systems, and database applications is essential.
* Tertiary qualifications in accounting or business administration, or other relevant fields, or several years of rates, property or administration experience at a senior leadership level is desirable
* Experience in local government and/or Council rates administration is highly desirable

Key Selection Criteria
Key Selection Criteria will be based on the skills and knowledge required in relation to:
* Extensive relevant Accounting experience, preferably with several years of rates, property or administration experience at a senior level.
* Ability to provide effective personal leadership, pursue continuous improvement and support best practice in customer service, by setting clear direction and objectives, by providing motivation towards performance standards, and by developing staff confidence and skills.
* High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with stakeholders.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver outcomes by exercising own judgement within established policies and procedures.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, together with the demonstrated skill to effectively manage competing priorities to achieve required outcomes.
