About the role

The
Digital Imaging Workflow Strategist – Integration Project Manager
is responsible for planning, managing, and delivering all radiology system integrations and digital workflow projects across the organisation. This role will ensure that RIS, PACS, modalities, integration brokers, reporting platforms, and referrer delivery Systems are implemented effectively, operationally aligned, and optimised for long term success.

This position leads the end-to-end project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and planning to implementation, go live, and post-deployment stabilisation, while ensuring workflows, operations and clinical teams are fully supported. You will be play a integral role in ensuring that new systems not only 'go live' but achieve sustained performance, adoption, and operational benefit.

Key responsibilities

Integration program leaderships

* Act as the program manager for all radiology system integrations, upgrades, and workflow redesign initiatives.
* Own project planning, resource coordination, vendor management, and delivery timelines.
* Ensure integration activities meet operational goals, technical requirements, and clinical needs.

Requirements, gathering and solution design

* Engage radiologists, radiographers, admin teams, and IT to understand workflow, operational, and clinical requirements.
* Translate needs into detailed integration requirements for RIS, PACS, modalities, reporting systems and referrer tools.
* Ensure workflows are designed with operational efficiency, safety, and reliability as priorities.

End-to-end project management

* Development project plans, milestones, risk assessments, stakeholder maps, and communication plans.
* Lead stand ups, steering committees and vendor coordination meetings.
* Track project deliverables, manage dependencies, and escalate risks proactively.
* Ensure high quality project documentation, including workflow diagrams, test plans and SOPS.

Implementation, testing and deployment

* Coordinate configuration, testing, validation, and mapping activities for RIS, PACS, modalities, integration brokers and reporting systems.
* Oversee user acceptance testing (UAT) with operational and clinical staff.
* Prepare operational teams for go-live through communication, training coordination and pre-deployment readiness checks.
* Co-lead go live events, ensuring seamless cutover, issue resolution and vendor alignment.

Post-deployment monitoring and stabilisation

* Own the stabilisation phase following deployment, ensuring issues are tracked, prioritised and resolved quickly.
* Monitor system performance, workflow impact, user adoption, and operational performance metrics.
* Identify process or configuration adjustments required to optimise system performance.
* Ensure the transition from project mode into business as usual support occurs smoothly with clear ownership pathways.

Workflow and operational optimisation

* Review workflows before and after deployment to ensure efficiencies are realised.
* Recommend workflow adjustments to improve turnaround times, utilisation, reporting efficiency, and referrer experience.
* Ensure integrations enhance – not hinder – daily operational practices.

Continuous improvement and governance

* Develop integration standards, change control processes, and workflow governance frameworks.
* Review system changes, updates, and new vendor features for operational impact.
* Provide strategic recommendations on future enhancements, upgrades, or workflow automation opportunities.

Background and experience

* Strong experience in radiology operations and/ or digital imaging environments.
* Proven project management experience delivering system integrations, upgrades or technology projects.
* Understanding of RIS, PACS, modality workflows, reporting systems, and digital referral pathways.
* Knowledge of integration technologies (DICOM, HL7, FHIR, integration brokers).
* Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage vendor relationships.
* Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering practical, operational outcomes.

Desirable

* Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, Agile).
* Experience working with large multi-site radiology networks.
* Experience with AI imaging tools, workflow automation, mor cloud-based imaging platforms.
* Exposure to quality systems, accreditation standard, and change management methodologies.
