Full Time Solar Design Engineer (Electrical Engineer)
.
The Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design and documentation of residential solar systems, providing crucial support to our installation team.
Salary range
: $70,000 - $90,000 per annum (depending upon skills and experience)
Responsibilities
Design, develop and engineer electrical systems for solar PV solutions, including rooftop, ground-mounted, and hybrid/off-grid systems
Perform electrical load calculations and analyse energy consumption data to design systems that meet client requirements
Interpret drawings and specifications and create detailed technical documentation for project execution and procurement
Conduct electrical simulations and feasibility studies on existing solar installations to maximise system efficiency, performance and ROI
Generate comprehensive Work Orders for installers, including Voltage Rise calculations and Single Line Diagrams and manage installation schedules
Design and select electrical components such as solar panels, inverters, batteries, mounting structures, and electrical wiring
Oversee installations of battery storage systems, solar panels and electrical components
Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely and accurate sourcing of materials
Enforce electrical safety and quality standards in accordance with AS/NZS and WHS regulations
Assist in the development of proposals and technical presentations for client meetings, focusing on the electrical engineering aspects of the solar PV systems
Requirements
Minimum bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role within the Solar Industry
Australian work experience is essential
Skills and attributes
Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential) and PVSyst; proficient with Microsoft Office/Office 365
In-depth knowledge of electrical and structural engineering principles as applied to solar energy systems
Familiarity with local permitting processes and building codes related to solar installations
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to thrive in a diverse team environment
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Driven to deliver high-quality outcomes for clients
Previous design and operations support experience is desirable
