Location: Melbourne, VIC
Work Type: Full‑time contract, 5 days on site (no WFH flexibility)
Workrights: Must be Australian Citizen, eligible for NV1
Duration: Initial 6 month ongoing contract
This role opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Information Security Systems Engineer to join a secure, enterprise environment supporting critical infrastructure. This is a hands‑on technical role focused on the deployment, operation and support of network and security systems within a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, deploy and support network and information security products and services
* Provide engineering support to network operations and engineering teams
* Perform lifecycle testing and operational support of security architectures
* Implement and maintain security access controls and configuration baselines
* Configure and support security infrastructure including:
o Firewalls, routers, switches and load balancers
o VPN technologies
o IDS / WAF solutions
* Conduct vulnerability scanning, analysis and remediation activities
* Administer security tools across SIEM, PAM and endpoint protection platforms
* Maintain technical security documentation in line with engineering standards
* Provide internal and customer‑facing technical support as required
Skills & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT Systems or related field (or equivalent experience)
* 5+ years’ experience in Network or Information Security Engineering
* Strong hands‑on experience with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/WAF and enterprise security tooling
* Experience with vulnerability management and security monitoring tools
* 2+ years’ experience in a senior or technical leadership role
* Ability to translate security requirements and policies into technical solutions
* Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills
Desirable
* Experience with ASD / NIST or similar security frameworks
* Experience in regulated or critical infrastructure environments
* Security certifications such as:
o CompTIA Security+
o CompTIA Network+
o CCNA
o CISSP
Security Requirements
* Must be eligible to obtain Australian Defence NV1 security clearance
* Australian citizenship required
* Must be able to work 100% in office, no WFH flexibility
