The Mid Murray Council area comprises land within regions generally known as the Murraylands, Riverland and eastern slopes of the Mount Lofty Ranges, that take in a wide range of townships such as Mannum, Swan Reach, and Morgan.
Based in Cambrai, this role will report to the Director Development & Environmental Services with a key focus on providing effective and efficient day to day management of the Development and Regulatory functions and Council's Assessment Panel whilst supporting the Director in achieving Council's vision and delivering Council's Strategic Plan.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
4. Providing leadership and effective management to support team collaboration and achievement
5. Overseeing the general administrative functions of the Department's operations and identification of opportunities for improved efficiency, quality, and service delivery
6. Overseeing the assessment of significant planning applications that are lodged with Council
7. Assist the Director in representing Council on various Committees
8. Ensure effective and proactive communication with other Government Bodies and Councils
9. To provide the Director and Council with sound and informed advice on matters relevant to the Development & Regulation areas
To be successful in this role, you will need:
10. Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or relevant discipline
11. Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of services, processes, standards, and methodologies of a legislative environment such as council
12. Experience in the preparation and development of both strategic and operational plans
13. Experience in community engagement around complex matters such as planning assessments
14. Effective verbal and written communication, taking an inclusive approach to communication, recognising the diverse needs of internal and external customers
Candidates with prior experience in the Local Government sector with an understanding of relevant Council legislation and Acts are encouraged to apply. Candidates who have or are working toward Level 1 Planning Accreditation will be highly regarded.
