About the Role


ASD's Capability and Transformation Group is seeking talented Project Officers, both technical and non-technical, to help shape the future of Australia's defence capabilities.

As a Project Officer, you will be at the heart of delivering mission-critical projects. You'll work alongside integrated teams, driving progress across the Capability Life Cycle and making a real impact on national security. Your responsibilities will include:

ASD 5

* Understanding the vision of a project's outcomes and associated benefits.
* Understanding project management practices to support iterative/agile project delivery.
* Demonstrating an in-depth understanding of the importance of project costs, schedule and expected benefits.
* Providing project coordination and monitoring support including tracking progress of activities against schedules, communication between relevant project stakeholders and identifying issues or risks to project deliverables.
* Supporting senior staff in the translation of requirements into project plans.
* Providing administrative and logistical support, including documentation management, meeting coordination, reporting writing (inclusive of extracting from data sources) and the drafting and progressing of financial and procurement documentation.
* Engaging with and supporting communication (written and oral) to a diverse range of stakeholders.
* Demonstrating an analytical approach to work.
* Remaining responsive and flexible, adapting as priorities change.
* Demonstrating interpersonal skills to foster and promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture that aligns with ASD values.
* Accepting opportunities for mentoring or coaching.

ASD 6

* Supporting project management practices to support iterative/agile working.
* Supporting project delivery, maintaining and applying knowledge of project management processes and tools, including but not limited to, schedule, risk management, quality assurance, benefits management, finance, cost modelling, procurement, contract management, acquisition strategy, test and evaluation, resourcing, project briefs, project management plans and post implementation reviews.
* Maintaining and communicating a vision of the project's outcomes and associated benefits.
* Developing and maintaining project artefacts, including briefing presentations, submissions, and reports relating to project status and risks and issues in accordance with organisational record keeping requirements.
* Accountable for or supporting scheduling project resources as well as monitoring and reviewing project costs, schedule and expected benefits.
* Supporting interdependencies of specific project business strategies and objectives.
* Supporting a framework for implementing business initiatives, or change within a project setting.
* Providing administrative and logistical support, including documentation management, meeting coordination, and drafting and progressing of financial and procurement documentation.
* Accountable for or supporting team cohesion, setting work area priorities, managing workflows and evaluating business outcomes.
* Assisting the team to answer enquiries and to understand common problems and offer solutions.
* Ensuring the team is keeping end-users informed on the progress of issue resolution and estimated timeframes for resolution.
* Provision of mentor support to junior staff in order to build a stronger understanding of polices, processes and procedures.

Adelaide positions will have a focus on security, and being ready to enable certification activities for the project. Key duties may include:

* Performing security inspections of hold and witness points in order to provide a level of security assurance.
* Identifying security vulnerabilities and risks in relation to the construction project.
* Implementing security risk mitigation strategies in consultation with relevant stakeholders throughout the life of the project.
* Checking and investigating any installation deviations from the security specifications.
