Supplier Quality Inspector – QTMP Project
Hyundai Rotem Company (HRC) was founded in 1977 and since that time, has been leading the industry globally by delivering critical national infrastructure in over 50 countries. A leader in the Korean rail industry, HRC has succeded in developing high-speed trains and is now establishing their presence in the Australian market.
The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) - a project commissioning, designing and constructing a new manufacturing facility in Torbanlea Qld and a new maintenance facility in Ormeau Qld. It includes manufacturing and delivering 65 EMU Train sets (390 cars) by the end of 2031.
Combined local and international design teams and suppliers will work together to ensure the delivery of manufacturing requirements and associated documentation to ensure that train sets locally manufactured in Australia meet the design, compliance, manufactuability, reliability, maintainability and safety specifications for the trains operational life for a minimum of at least 35 years.
About The Role
In this role, you'll ensure that all subcontractor-supplied components meet HRC's stringent quality, safety and project requirements. You will play an essential part in incoming inspections, documentation verification, audit support, and non-conformance reporting to maintain compliance with HRC's contractual, regulatory and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform incoming inspections on subcontractor-delivered components.
* Review and verify documentation, including certificates and test reports.
* Ensure components meet HRC standards, specifications and project requirements.
Audit Support & Compliance
* Assist in subcontractor audits and inspections across Australia.
* Ensure compliance with the HRC Quality Management System, Rail Safety legislation and relevant standards.
* Support identification and reporting of quality deviations and non-conformances.
Issue Management
* Identify, escalate and report process-related quality issues during manufacturing.
* Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and support corrective actions.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams and subcontractors to resolve quality concerns.
Documentation & Reporting
* Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits and NCRs.
* Provide timely status updates to the Supplier Quality Manager and internal stakeholders.
About You
* Minimum 3 years' experience as a Quality Inspector or similar role
* Previous experience in rollingstock, heavy manufacturing or component supply (highly desirable)
* Ability to interpret mechanical or electrical drawings
* Solid understanding of quality management principles and inspection methodologies
* Experience with Material Controls/Warehousing processes
* Strong documentation and reporting skills using standard software tools
* High attention to detail with excellent problem-solving abilities
* Good communication and teamwork skills
* Familiarity with ISO9001 and auditing practices
