Role
Rivergum offers a multi-disciplinary treatment option for individuals convicted of serious sexually violent and/or violent offences who are subject to supervision orders under Victoria's post-sentence scheme. Rivergum is designed to enhance community safety by treating these individuals in a secure but non-punitive therapeutic environment, with a strong focus on treatment intervention and rehabilitation working with complex individuals within a trauma-informed approach.
The Forensic Senior Clinician is part of a small clinical multidisciplinary team responsible for providing a holistic range of advanced therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation based on the complex and multi-faceted needs of service users residing at Rivergum. This includes offence-specific and offence-related group and individual based interventions. Treatment modalities are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) based and include Schema Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
The position works closely with the Clinical Services Manager, Forensic Senior Clinicians within Forensic Intervention Services, Specialist Case Managers and Specialist Case Workers. Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) is also offered at Rivergum and this position works alongside the use of such therapeutic intervention. This position is based at Rivergum in Ararat.
About You
As our ideal candidate you will have demonstrated experience in providing leadership and authoritative clinical advice to case management staff, integrating a clinical understanding of risk and needs. You will be able to lead, develop and maintain a culture where staff and residents are motivated to create and maintain a therapeutic environment. This includes identifying ways to promote residents' participation and engagement in both formal and informal processes and activities.
You will have demonstrated experience in delivering evidence-based interventions within a complex environment, utilising skills within the areas of mental health (including working with personality disordered clients or clients with complex trauma presentations), offending behaviours or substance use. You will have excellent problem-solving and communication skills, high resilience, the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and an understanding of contemporary forensic interventions.

Eligibility
To apply, you'll need to hold (or be eligible for) one of the following:
5. Minimum four years post-registration clinical experience in a forensic setting is desirable
6. Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia
7. Membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
8. Credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse and with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses
9. Registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
10. Specialist training and/or postgraduate qualifications in a clinical or forensic field, is desirable
11. Psychology Board of Australia Approved Supervisor status is desirable.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include national police checks and misconduct screening. You will also need to possess a current Victorian driver's licence.
