Senior Policy Officer
Employment type – Fulltime Ongoing or Fulltime Temp (up to 24 months)
Salary – GR 9/10 $129,464 - 142,665 plus superannuation
Department – Housing and Homelessness Strategy, Department of Communities and Justice
Location – Parramatta, NSW, AU, 2150 (various Hybrid working)
The NSW Government is determined to make NSW a place where everyone has access to safe and secure housing, and where experiences of homelessness are rare, brief and non-recurring. Homes NSW is a division of the Department of Communities and Justice, bringing together the housing and homelessness functions, the NSW Land and Housing Corporation, Aboriginal Housing Office and key worker housing functions from across government under one roof. It leads work to deliver more social and affordable housing, end the cycle of homelessness, and deliver quality public housing to the community.
What you'll do
* Lead delivery of defined workstreams within strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and achievement of outcomes.
* Drive project planning activities, including scoping, scheduling, risk management and coordination of deliverables.
* Provide guidance, mentoring and oversight to team members and lower graded staff, including allocating work and supporting delivery of outputs, and contribute to capability development and coordination of work priorities where required.
* Provide authoritative, evidence‐based advice and reports to support decision‐making on policy, strategy and reform initiatives.
* Build and maintain stakeholder relationships and contribute to influencing outcomes through effective engagement, communication and negotiation.
* Manage project activities, timelines and deliverables to ensure effective delivery within agreed parameters.
What we're looking for
* Demonstrated experience in policy development, strategic initiatives or project delivery within government or a comparable environment.
* Experience in, or exposure to, complex policy or reform environments, including the ability to analyse information and contribute to evidence‐based advice.
* Understanding of, or ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, the housing, homelessness or related human services system, or a comparable policy environment.
* Knowledge of legislation and government processes relevant to Homes NSW or similar public sector environments.
* National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014.
