Leading Hand – Grounds Maintenance | Full Time | Wagga
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Leading Hand Grounds Maintenance professional to join our team in Wagga. In this full-time role, you'll be responsible for leading a small crew and overseeing the day-to-day delivery of Land Management services.
This is a hands-on leadership role, offering an excellent work-life balance with a Monday to Friday roster, and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work supporting Defence operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and coordinate a small grounds maintenance crew
2. Manage daily work schedules and assign tasks to ensure timely and quality service delivery
3. Liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure expectations are met
4. Maintain accurate records of work completed and report progress to supervisors
5. Operate and oversee the safe use of grounds maintenance equipment and machinery
6. Ensure team compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) standards and Spotless/Defence policies
7. Mentor team members and support on-the-job training
8. Participate in hands-on tasks, including:
* Mowing
* Brush cutting
* Edging
* Pruning
* General gardening
* Green waste removal
* Weed, pest, and disease control
About You
* Demonstrated experience in a Leading Hand or similar supervisory role, preferably in grounds or facilities maintenance
* Strong leadership and communication skills – both verbal and written
* Experience in coordinating teams and delivering work programs
* Commitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction
* Australian Citizenship (required for Defence site access)
* Valid Open Class Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle
Desirable Licences & Certifications
* Medium Rigid Truck Licence
* Chainsaw Cross-Cut Ticket
* ChemCert Certification
* Asbestos Awareness Certificate
* Agricultural Chemical Distribution Control Licence
