Duration: 6 months + potential 3-month extension

About the opportunity
A Federal Government regulatory agency is seeking APS6 Senior Policy Officers (x2) to support the development and implementation of complex policy within a regulatory environment.
These roles sit within a Regulatory Frameworks team, contributing to policy development programs, stakeholder engagement, and the delivery of evidence-based policy advice.
This is a solid opportunity for APS6-level contractors who are comfortable working under limited direction and contributing to complex, evolving policy work.
Key responsibilities
* Support the development and implementation of policy frameworks and initiatives
* Undertake research and analysis to inform policy development and advice
* Contribute to evidence-based policy recommendations on complex issues
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support policy development
* Assist in preparing briefings, submissions and policy documentation
* Monitor and report on progress against milestones and priorities
* Contribute to improving policy processes, tools and systems
* Work collaboratively within a team environment and support senior staff as required
What you’ll bring
* Experience in APS policy roles, ideally within a regulatory or complex policy setting
* Ability to work under limited direction, managing your own workload and priorities
* Demonstrated capability in:
o policy research and analysis
o stakeholder engagement
o contributing to policy advice
* Strong written communication skills, including briefings and structured policy documents
* Sound judgement and the ability to apply policy knowledge in practical contexts
Desirable
* Exposure to regulatory policy, governance or legislative environments
* Relevant qualifications or experience in policy, law or related disciplines
Engagement details
* Labour hire contract aligned to APS6 equivalent
* Market-aligned hourly rates (depending on experience)
* Standard Working Arrangement
o 37.5 hours per week
o Full-time on-site (flexibility may be negotiated case-by-case)
