About the opportunity
NSW Health Pathology is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to support the Microbiology Laboratory at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. This is a part‑time Medical Laboratory Assistant position, offering 4.5 hours per day from Monday to Friday and involves a combination of administrative responsibilities and specimen reception duties.

What you'll be doing
* Contribute to a high‑quality pathology service.
* Perform pathology specimen reception duties including receiving and triaging of specimens, patient registration and request entry.
* Assist with general administrative tasks within the laboratory such as procurement and roster entry.
Qualifications
* Certificate III in Pathology Collections, or Pathology Assistance and/or previous experience in a pathology setting, or working knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to learn, all aspects of the laboratory environment.
* Demonstrated ability to manage tasks in a demanding environment where there are competing priorities and time constraints.
* Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers, internal and external.
* Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills combined with the ability to investigate and resolve general issues.
* Ability to undertake various administrative tasks and perform duties with attention to detail.
* Proficient computer skills including high attention to detail and data accuracy.
* Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive information in a laboratory setting, following relevant legislation, policies, and requirements.
