About the area
The Directorate of Student Life sits within the Education Portfolio, overseen by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education and Student Experience). Student Life plays an integral role in the shared strategic goal of providing a world-class student experience.
The Directorate has four core divisions, Student Administration, Student Offices, Student Equity and Success, and Student Wellbeing and Engagement. The scope of services centre on the student journey, from the provision of student programs and activities that support and promote access to UWA, to student enrolment, course planning, transition, and progression through the lifecycle of study to graduation. The Directorate is also responsible for the delivery of services that promote academic success and support wellbeing and engagement for an enhanced student experience. Student Life works closely with the Student Guild, affiliated residential colleges and the wider UWA Education portfolio.
The division of Student Wellbeing and Engagement facilitates a high-quality student experience through the provision of integrated and comprehensive services. The division is responsible for the delivery of the UWA Mental Health and Wellbeing Framework and the UWA Safe, Respectful and Inclusive Communities Framework. Student Wellbeing and Engagement has five broad areas - tertiary prevention through the Complex Case Management team; early intervention, cohort initiatives and timely access to low barrier services through the Student Wellbeing team; counselling through the Psychology team; Grand Challenges and the provision of a contemporary onboarding experience through the Student Engagement team; and primary prevention programs and clinical response to gender-based violence through the Safe and Respectful Communities team.
About the opportunity
o You will work specifically as a member of the psychology team engaged in the full range of psychological and counselling duties.
o Work closely with other practitioners within Student Wellbeing and Engagement, contributing to the overall wellbeing and care of university students.
About you
o Full registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
o Substantial relevant experience within a counselling psychologist role.
o Ability to assess risk, safety plan, and apply a range of professional counselling and therapeutic interventions, appropriate to student presentations.
o Sound knowledge of current research in the field.
o Ability to work as a professional in a multi-disciplinary team committed to the wider Student Life strategic priorities.
Special Requirements
o Eligible for/Current Medicare Service Provider Number.
o Current Working with Children Check.
o Current National Police Clearance Certificate.
