About the Role
You'll lead and support programs that enhance equipment performance, reduce downtime, and ensure compliance with statutory and operational standards. Whether you're driving root cause analysis or executing improvement projects, your work will directly impact plant efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the development of maintenance budgets and monitor costs to identify improvement opportunities.
* Develop and refine maintenance procedures, methods, and testing protocols.
* Provide technical support to the maintenance team and troubleshoot equipment breakdowns.
* Inspect critical jobs to ensure work is performed to standard and specifications.
* Perform engineering calculations to support maintenance and improvement decisions.
* Define repair scopes in collaboration with vendors and assist in developing repair procedures.
* Support project engineering teams in assessing the maintainability of new and modified installations.
* Define and implement training programs for maintenance equipment and practices.
* Apply value analysis to repair/replace, repair/design, and make/buy decisions.
* Lead and execute small to medium asset improvement and integrity projects.
* Ensure statutory compliance through inspection governance and method development.
* Conduct life cycle costing analysis to optimise whole-of-life asset strategies.
* Administer change management processes, including drawing updates and documentation.
* Maintain high WSH standards and promote safe work practices across all activities.
About You
You bring strong rotating equipment experience, have worked extensively in chemical or complex processing plants, and are confident delivering effective maintenance strategy solutions. You combine hands-on mechanical knowledge with solid reliability engineering skills, enabling you to improve asset performance, support investigations and drive practical improvements across plant equipment.
To be successful in your application you will bring
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
* Minimum 10 years' experience in a chemical or complex processing environment
* At least 3 years' experience in asset improvement, reliability or maintenance engineering
Expertise in
* Rotating equipment experience, including pumps, blowers, compressors and agitators, with strong diagnostic and reliability capability.
* Maintenance strategy development, including RCM, PM optimisation, criticality assessments, condition monitoring strategies, failure mode analysis, and the development of maintenance tasks, intervals, frequencies and tactics.
* Project management and change management principles
Proficiency in
* Corrosion management, materials selection and metallurgy
* Pressure equipment and process tanks, including welding defects and inspection codes
* Risk management and decision-making frameworks
* Life cycle costing and asset strategy development
* Australian standards, OHS regulations, and international codes
* SAP CMMS and Availability Work Bench (AWB) experience (Highly Desirable)
* Familiarity with AS/NZS 3788 and structural design codes
* Reverse engineering for obsolete plant equipment
* Competent in Microsoft Office Suite
