HSRA have created an assistant board secretary role to support the executive, board and sub-committees at this critical phase of the organisations evolution.
The Australian Government is planning a future high speed rail network to connect Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and regional communities across the east coast. As Assistant Board Secretary for the Australian Government's High Speed Rail Authority, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting and maintaining the highest standards of governance across all Boards and Committees for the Authority.

Your Impact
Your governance expertise will underpin the Authority's commitment to transparency, integrity, and good governance by:
Coordinating the planning, preparation, and delivery of Board and Committee meetings, ensuring all logistics are managed efficiently and effectively.
Managing end-to-end Board and Committee processes, including preparation of agenda planning, paper coordination, meeting logistics, governance calendar, minutes and action tracking.
Ensuring timely circulation of high-quality Board and Committee papers that meet governance requirements and deadlines.
Reviewing and finalising Board and Committee documentation for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with established standards before submission for review.
Supporting continuous improvements in leading governance practices throughout the organisation.
Acting as a key point of contact for Board members, Committee members, and senior executives on all matters relating to Board and Committee operations.
About You
You're a seasoned governance professional with deep expertise in government procurement and contract law. You bring:
Demonstrated experience drafting accurate board minutes.
Deep knowledge of corporate governance principles along with proven experience supporting Boards and Committees within regulated environments.
Exceptional organisational skills with an unwavering attention to detail.
Well-developed written communication skills including experience drafting or reviewing high-level documentation for Boards or Committees.
Experience supporting Audit & Risk Committees or other specialist committees is advantageous.
A track record of building effective working relationships with senior executives while demonstrating professionalism, discretion, sound judgement, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
Experience gained within public sector organisations or large-scale infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.
Eligibility Criteria
In addition to the above key capabilities, to be eligible for this position you must:
Have 3 to 6 years' practical experience of company secretarial duties within an organisation.
Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance, Governance Institute of Australia (desirable)
Graduate in law, business or commerce preferred with strong administration skills
Be an Australian citizen
Baseline Security Clearance preferred
Must satisfy a National Coordinated Criminal History Check
