Southern Ridge Electrical is a growing electrical contracting business delivering domestic and commercial projects across Gippsland and Melbourne’s South East.
With over 80 staff operating from our Warragul and Pakenham offices, our team continues to expand as we deliver projects across residential construction, commercial builds and major community developments.
As our workforce grows, we are introducing a dedicated People & Culture role to support our team, strengthen our internal processes and ensure we continue to provide a supportive and well-structured workplace for our staff.
This newly created role presents an exciting opportunity for the right person to help shape the HR function within a growing business.
The Role
We are seeking a People & Culture Coordinator to manage and support key HR functions across the business.
This role will take responsibility for the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding through to staff reviews, employee relations and apprenticeship administration.
Working closely with the Managing Director, Operations Manager and department supervisors, you will help ensure our people systems remain organised, compliant and supportive of our team.
This position is being introduced as a part-time role, however as the business continues to grow there is strong potential for the position to evolve into a full-time management role.
Location
The role will be primarily based at our Pakenham office, with at least one day per week spent at our Warragul office.
As our team operates across both locations, the successful candidate will need to be comfortable working between offices and supporting staff across the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
* Manage recruitment processes including advertising, screening and interview coordination
* Prepare employment contracts and onboarding documentation
* Coordinate new employee inductions
* Maintain employee records and HR documentation
Employee Lifecycle & Performance
* Coordinate and assist with annual staff performance reviews
* Support supervisors with performance management processes
* Assist with employee development and progression discussions
Apprenticeship Administration
* Manage documentation relating to apprenticeships
* Liaise with apprenticeship support organisations and training providers
* Monitor training plans, trade school attendance and compliance documentation
Employee Relations & HR Support
* Assist in managing HR enquiries, concerns and workplace matters
* Provide guidance to supervisors on HR processes and procedures
* Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive matters
HR Systems & Compliance
* Ensure employee records and documentation are maintained accurately
* Assist with HR policy development and process improvement
* Support compliance with relevant employment legislation and workplace requirements
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, approachable and passionate about supporting people in the workplace.
You will ideally bring:
* Previous experience in a Human Resources, People & Culture or Administration role
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism
* Experience coordinating recruitment or onboarding processes
* Confidence working with managers and staff across different teams
* A proactive mindset and willingness to help improve systems and processes
Experience within construction, trades or a growing small-to-medium business will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
