Regen Nurseries is a leading native plant nursery based in Bangholme, Victoria, specializing in the propagation and supply of high-quality native species for ecological restoration, landscaping, and environmental projects across the region. With an exciting period of expected growth forecast, we are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Site Maintenance Coordinator & Machine Operator to ensure the ongoing performance, safety, and reliability of our infrastructure and systems.
The Site Maintenance Coordinator & Machine Operator is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of all infrastructure, plant and equipment across our nursery site. In addition to maintenance, you will load and unload trucks, assist with pallet, stillage and bench movement, and support day‑to‑day operations.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
* Demonstrated experience in maintenance roles, preferably within a horticultural, agricultural, or industrial setting.
* Experience and understanding of automated irrigation systems.
* Working knowledge of plumbing, irrigation infrastructure and small engine repair (2‑stroke).
* Strong problem‑solving skills with a practical, hands‑on approach to engineering and maintenance challenges.
* Understanding of WHS/OHS legislation and experience implementing safety practices.
* Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks independently.
Preferred Skills:
* Forklift, skid steer, telehandler licenses.
* Heavy or medium rigid truck license.
* Familiarity with sustainable or regenerative nursery practices.
* Previous experience in a similar role within the horticulture, landscaping, or agricultural sector.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Maintain all nursery infrastructure (greenhouses, shade structures, benching systems, irrigation systems, roads, drainage, utility connections).
* Plan and execute preventative maintenance schedules.
* Coordinate building repairs, small construction works and upgrades as needed.
* Support daily nursery operations.
* Machine operator responsibilities:
o Load and unload trucks.
o Assist the nursery teams with stock movement (pallets, stillages, benches).
o Back up delivery driver; support dispatch team when required as a secondary truck, van or ute driver.
Equipment Maintenance:
* Service, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical nursery equipment (greenhouses, rolling bench systems, 2‑stroke and 4‑stroke engines, irrigation pumps, fans, heating systems).
* Apply sound engineering principles to develop solutions and suggest system improvements.
Irrigation & Utility Systems:
* Maintain automated irrigation (recycled water supply, tanks, boom irrigation systems, solenoids, filtration systems).
* Monitor performance and implement repairs and calibrations to ensure acceptable water quality and efficiency.
Safety, Compliance & Documentation:
* Ensure all maintenance practices align with WHS/OHS legislation and nursery policies.
* Conduct regular risk assessments and maintain detailed maintenance logs, inspection reports, and service records.
* Maintain an up‑to‑date inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables.
Project & Contractor Management:
* Manage maintenance‑related projects and coordinate external contractors for specialised maintenance and compliance services.
