About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated clinician to work in an innovative residential program with patients across Group Therapy, while also carrying an individual caseload.
You will be an engaged, proactive thinker who brings unique abilities to our programs.
At Malvern Private, we work as a strong multidisciplinary team, connecting psychiatry, addiction specialists, medical professionals, nursing (both general and mental health trained), and a diversely skilled counselling team to ensure a focus on positive client outcomes.
You will engage with clients to help them understand their developmental emotional dynamics and trauma, maintaining a structured recovery-focused management plan.
This role supports the Malvern Model of Care, ensuring service delivery with a humanistic approach, while maintaining safe, friendly, and clear communication within the community and team to deliver therapeutic care.
We are looking for Permanent Part-Time clinicians for both our inpatient and outpatient programs.
Skills and Experience
A tertiary qualification in counselling, psychology, or social work, and registration with AHPRA/PACFA.
Post-graduate qualifications are required.
A strong ethical approach that includes respect, understanding, and leadership in client interactions and teamwork.
A solid understanding of psychotherapeutic principles and practices.
Experience facilitating group therapy (interpersonal group processing).
Experience with developmental models of psychopathology that inform formulation and treatment.
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, open to giving and receiving feedback, and resolving interpersonal conflicts.
Experience working with trauma, addictions, and recovery models.
Able to manage a caseload for 1:1 interventions, deliver group therapy, and develop psychoeducation and other topic groups.
Experience with evidence-based approaches such as Trauma, Inner Child, IFS, DBT, Mindfulness, Anxiety Reduction, or other techniques; trauma-informed practices are preferred.
Understanding of alcohol, drug, and other substance abuse, including impacts on families and significant others.
Strong verbal, written, and communication skills for managing and planning with vulnerable clients.
Working knowledge of NSQHS, National Mental Health Standards, legislative requirements, and practice standards.
Ability to collaborate with internal and external professionals.
Availability to work a weekend shift every fortnight.
An open, honest, proactive attitude towards professional development and growth.
Ability to work effectively with difficult and demanding clients.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written).
