We are seeking passionate community members to support the City of Ballarat Animal Shelter through a volunteer program. Volunteers will work a 3.5-hour shift on their rostered day.
Roles and Responsibilities
Donations, Laundry and Store Room Volunteer
– Sort and register donations (toys, bedding, collars, leashes), maintain inventory, and manage washing and drying of items. Monday–Friday, *********.
Administration Assist Volunteer
– Support the front-of-house team with general administrative tasks, creation of adoption packs and pet profiles. Monday–Friday, *********.
Dog Enrichment Volunteer
– Walk dogs, play, clean dishes, and restock blankets and toys. Monday–Friday, *********.
Cat Enrichment Volunteer
– Brush cats, play, clean dishes, and restock blankets and toys. Monday–Friday, *********.
About You
Applicants should be available for a 3.5-hour shift on a rostered day and meet the following essential criteria.
Essential Criteria
Prompt and reliable.
Self-motivated and able to work within a team.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors.
Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or eligible visa holder.
Willing to undertake training and development as required.
Willing to undergo a Victorian Police Check and Working with Children's Check (to be arranged through City of Ballarat).
Desirable Criteria
Experience working in an animal environment.
Knowledge of companion animal behaviour and council community pet-keeping requirements.
Interest in community and animal awareness.
