About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Content Writer to join our dynamic team in a full-time 12 month fixed-term contract position. In this role, you will play a critical role in developing clear, accurate, and engaging content for Owner's Manuals and technical training material. You will collaborate closely with product engineering, aftersales, and marketing teams to translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly documents for a range of audiences – from vehicle owners to workshop technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
* Research, author, edit, and proofread Owner's Manuals, quick reference guides, and how-to content for new vehicle models.
* Interpret engineering documents, technical specifications, CAD data, and system schematics to extract and convert information into clear user-focused content.
* Collaborate with product marketing, engineering and product compliance experts to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with brand guidelines.
* Maintain version control and manage updates across multiple document types and platforms.
* Utilise a Content Management System to create, reuse, import and export content, including for translation.
* Assist in the development of technical training materials (e-learning modules and instructor-led content) to support technician and workshop training programs.
* Collaborate with graphic designers, UI/UX teams, and visualization experts to develop clear, accessible illustrations, diagrams, and infographics that enhance written content.
* Ensure content meets legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
* Contribute to broader team projects and initiatives, with opportunities to develop skills beyond technical writing as they arise.
What you'll bring:
* Proven experience in technical writing or content development in the automotive or related technical industry.
* Good understanding of vehicle systems and components.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics and produce clear, concise, and accurate documentation.
* Experience with a range of software packages, from CAD to illustration and design tools to content authoring systems.
* High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Bachelor's degree in a field related to Technical Writing, Communications, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
