About the opportunity

Are you passionate about empowering parents to achieve their educational and career goals? Our Parent Pathways program is the career choice for you.

Join our Parent Pathways Hunter team, where you will be responsible for supporting Parents to identify and reach their education and employment goals, ultimately contributing to their long-term economic security. The role of the Mentor is to provide comprehensive support, empowering and encouraging parents throughout the program.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

* Provide quality engagement with local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community, services and organisations as well as supporting staff in engaging with local communities in their region
* Foster meaningful interaction through initial and ongoing participant appointments, guiding them to achieve their goals and unique program objectives
* Identify and address barriers to employment through referral to relevant community support services and provide ongoing mentoring
* Facilitate job placements with local employers for job-ready participants and provide continuous support to ensure lasting employment success
* Work both independently and collaboratively to exceed KPI targets, driving team and personal success
* Ensure all tasks are executed in full compliance with Department guidelines, legislative requirements, and organisational procedures and policies

About you:

* You are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person who can build engagement and connection as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and agencies
* Demonstrated understanding of the history and challenges impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
* Possess a minimum Certificate III qualification in fields such as Employment Services, Community Services or other relevant areas. Or be willing to pursue a relevant qualification
* Previous experience in a case management, employment services or social services is highly regarded
* Relevant lived experience would be highly valued, as it enriches our support for participants experiencing barriers, whilst navigating a complex system. Your personal journey will bring empathy, understanding, and empowerment to those we serve
* Skilled in empowering individuals to navigate their barriers and foster connection with support services in the community
* Demonstrated success in a high-performing workplace with a strong commitment to high quality values based human services
* Advanced conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
* Well-developed skills in customer service, coaching and administration
* Excellent written and verbal communication
* Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency using MS Suite of programs
* Must hold a Driver's licence
