Overview
As RACT continues to transform and create more value for Tasmanians, we have a unique opportunity for someone to join our Transformation team as our Manager Project Practice. The Manager Project Practice leads the Project Management practice within the PMO and supports the delivery of complex, cross‐organisational programs across the RACT Group. This role combines hands‐on delivery support with people leadership, providing line management to Senior Project Managers and owning the standards, methods, and ways of working that underpin consistent project delivery.
Responsibilities
* Provide line management to Senior Project Managers, including performance development, workload allocation, and fostering a high‐performing, collaborative team culture within the Project Management practice.
* Own the PM practice framework: maintain project management standards, methodologies, templates, and ways of working, and lead a community of practice to embed consistency and continuous improvement across the PMO.
* Support the Sponsor to initiate, plan, and deliver the most complex, cross‐organisational programs, maintaining visibility of strategic alignment with RACT's goals and escalating where alignment is at risk.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive program and project plans including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation, while actively managing risks, issues, and dependencies across the portfolio.
* Maintain a working interface with the Iteration Lead on initiative timelines, cross‐initiative dependencies, and stakeholder reporting, supporting coordination across project governance and squad delivery.
* Support the establishment and operation of project governance structures, facilitating steering committees and other governance forums on behalf of the Project Sponsor.
* Develop, track, and report on project budgets, providing timely visibility of expenditure and supporting sponsors and finance partners to make informed resourcing decisions.
* Monitor and report on project quality, providing sponsors and governance forums with timely visibility of delivery progress against the standards, benefits, and outcomes outlined in approved business cases.
* Coach and mentor Senior Project Managers and project teams, actively contributing to the uplift of project management capability across the organisation.
* Coordinate and facilitate workshops and decision forums, ensuring outcomes are clearly documented, communicated, and tracked.
* Prepare presentations and reports to support portfolio‐level governance, executive reporting, and project delivery activities.
Requirements
* 7 or more years of experience supporting business transformation, digital, and/or system implementation projects, with demonstrated experience managing or leading a team of project managers.
* Experience designing or governing project management frameworks, standards, or methodologies within a PMO or similar environment.
* Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, make critical decisions under pressure, and lead teams and stakeholders through complexity and organisational change.
* Analytical mindset with strong problem‐solving capability and a commitment to delivering high‐quality outcomes on time and within budget.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize and present complex information at Board and Executive level.
* Prior experience in financial services or another regulated industry is desirable.
