About Us

At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

About the Role

As the Test Strategy & Execution Lead in Deposits & Payments, you will be instrumental in strengthening ANZ's enterprise document management strategy - uplifting capability, improving future‑state processes, and enhancing how the bank manages and surfaces critical documents. As part of this broader objective, you will also play a critical role in the Suncorp Migration program by driving end‑to‑end delivery, shaping the implementation approach, preparing impacted teams, and ensuring migrated Suncorp documents are seamlessly accessible for customers and staff from Day 1.

You will own the end‑to‑end testing approach, including strategy, planning, test case design and execution, defect triage, and ensuring full functional and non‑functional coverage. You will partner with business and technology stakeholders to validate outcomes, protect quality, and report on progress, risks, and defects to support a smooth migration and strong Day 1. You will also contribute PMO support across planning, releases, tech coordination, and reporting to the program's Testing pillar.

Banking is changing and we're changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you'll be building your future, while helping to build ours.

Role Type: 12 Month FTC
Role Location: Melbourne
Work Hours: Full-Time

What will your day look like?

As a Test Strategy & Execution Lead, you are accountable for:

1. Lead the Testing pillar as the primary hands on tester—setting priorities, leading team testing activities, coordinating with stakeholders, and execution of testing to acquire required outcomes.
2. Work with business, technology teams, and vendors to understand solution intent and translate it into effective test strategies, plans, and scenarios, while supporting other workstreams (e.g. Business Analysis) when needed.
3. Develop and execute end to end test strategy across all phases (SIT, UAT, BVT), ensuring strong scope coverage and mitigating risks via comprehensive test plans and cases by identifying edge cases, dependencies and validation points.
4. Coordinate with the program Testing team, initiatives, stakeholders, and vendors to align test planning, environment readiness, data preparation, and testing execution to timelines.
5. Supporting the Initiative Lead with testing related inputs by providing clear reporting on test progress, defects, risks, environment readiness, and resource needs.
6. Facilitate workshops with business and technology stakeholders to refine scope, validate impacts, confirm expected outcomes, and ensure full test coverage.
7. Maintain strong testing hygiene through high quality documentation, adherence to ANZ delivery standards, and audit ready artefacts (Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Summary Reports).
8. Apply technical understanding to interpret solution architecture, identify integration points and system behaviours, and convert them into integration, regression, and end to end test scenarios.
9. Support the Initiative Lead in coordinating the team and working groups and contributing to a positive, high performance culture.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

10. A can do attitude and willingness to 'roll up your sleeves' to help the team deliver in a fast paced VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) environment - consistently flexing between your SME responsibilities and evolving team priorities that require swarming.
11. Deep expertise in strategising and executing comprehensive test strategies, plans, and cases across functional and non functional requirements with strong traceability and risk based testing.
12. Proven ability to operate as the primary, hands on Tester, with leadership experience valued to help coordinate and influence matrixed technical and business contributors. This role requires someone who leads through action.
13. Strong capability across Testing, Business or Technical Analysis, Risk, Project Management, or Solution Architecture.
14. Exceptional stakeholder management, engaging confidently with senior leaders, business units, vendors, and technology teams.
15. Experience working on large scale technology migration programs, with a strong interest and background in technology delivery and interpreting technical requirements.
16. Desirable SME knowledge of document management services and related technology stacks.
17. You are experienced in conflict management and have complex problem-solving skills to handle team or stakeholder issues and can manage unexpected challenges effectively.
18. Excellent documentation, facilitation, analytical, and organisational skills, maintaining high standards across all testing deliverables.
19. A strong and consistent risk lens, with an ability to identify, articulate, and mitigate delivery and quality risks through structured testing, robust defect management, and evidence based reporting.

You're not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we'd love to hear from you.
