Role
The LGBTIQA+ Family Therapist works across the Mallee region. Part time 3 days per week (0.6 FTE).
The role involves providing counselling to LGBTIQA+ people and their families or support networks, and offering secondary consultation to other community‐based services across the state.
Key Outcomes
* Improve the safety, security, mental health and wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ people
* Improve family relationships, community connections, cohesion, and support
* Collaborate with service providers to ensure integrated services and equitable access
* Build LGBTIQA+ awareness and capacity within Anglicare Victoria and the local community
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree or accredited qualification in social work, psychology, counselling, psychotherapy, or family therapy
* Experience within child protection, placement, support services, or family service systems with understanding of relevant legislative and policy frameworks
* Experience applying evidence‐based theoretical frameworks in short‐ and medium‐term counselling interventions
* Understanding of the issues facing the LGBTIQA+ community and commitment to advancing wellbeing, understanding and acceptance
* Leadership and mentoring skills for supporting complex and high‐risk families
* Advanced clinical assessment skills – risk, case formulation, and care planning
* Deliver evidence‐based therapeutic counselling and family therapy that promotes health and wellbeing for LGBTIQA+ individuals and their families
* Strong focus on developing a positive, high‐performing, and engaged team environment

* Salary at SCHADS level 5 (pro‐rata), approximately $100,776 plus super, with flexible increments up to level 5.3 depending on experience
* Position based in the Mallee region (Mildura or Swan Hill) with flexibility to travel as needed
