Our client has over 40 Hotels, Resorts and Serviced Suites worldwide with three based in Melbourne including one in prime position within the busy Melbourne Airport precinct.
Due to internal promotion our client is seeking a results driven Meeting & Events Manager to join their dynamic hotel sales team.
Reporting to the Director of Sales and Marketing, this is a great opportunity to work within an established team and property to develop your career in a supportive, fun and customer focused environment.
**THE ROLE**:
In this role you will be responsible for the overall Meeting & Event Sales Department, from initial contact with the client to completion, ensuring maximum profitability and client satisfaction.
You will oversee the day to day operation and strategic direction of the Meeting & Events department working closely with the team (with 2 direct reports) giving direction, support and strong leadership skills to help foster a team focus on achieving KPI's and departmental goals and targets.
This is a very fast paced environment with often short event and meeting turnaround times so an ability to work well under pressure and multitask is imperative to this role.
Some of your roles and responsibilities with include (but not limited to)
- Utilising a proactive approach to ensure that all available function space is sold and best yield management is maintained.
- Negotiating with current and new clients to achieve maximum revenue and profit potential while satisfying client's needs.
- Develop and mentor current and new Meeting & Event associates to provide excellent guest service.
- Ensure regular communications and co-ordination meetings are held with relevant departments focusing on guest service and work processes.
- Prepare periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales and areas of proposed client base expansion.
**ABOUT YOU**:
- A passion for delivering strong sales results, successful clients events while having fun.
- Demonstrated meeting and events experience, gained in hotel industry
- Experience at leading, managing and motivating teams
- Passion for managing customer and internal stakeholder relations.
- Strong presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, time management and multi-taking skills.
- Experience with Opera Sales and Catering is high desirable.
