About the role
We are seeking a motivated and strategic Team Leader (Conservation and Biodiversity Planning) to deliver conservation and biodiversity protection planning to ensure a safe, resilient, and healthy natural environment in Ipswich.
You will assist in delivering policies, strategies and plans to help manage and conserve our unique and natural landscapes bringing your environmental expertise to the team.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
* Lead and manage the Conservation and Biodiversity Planning Team in delivering policies, plans, and guidelines for conservation and biodiversity.
* Implement council's Natural Environment Strategy and associated priority species management plans for koala, flying foxes, brush tailed rock wallabies, and their associated habitat.
* Provide specialist advice and input into vegetation, fauna and habitat condition assessments, surveys, and monitoring to inform value-based planning and decision making.
* Lead research, modelling, and analyses in relation to conservation and biodiversity to ensure appropriate, functional, and effective solutions are developed and implemented.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
* Experience in strategy, planning and policy development, monitoring, implementation and review.
* The ability to lead a team ensuring projects, programs, procedures and actions deliver environmental outcomes.
* Passion for driving positive outcomes for our natural environment and community.
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as environmental management, natural resource management, environmental science, or ecology.
