**Overview**
As an Accessibility Specialist, you will work collaboratively with business and ICT teams to create digital solutions that meet the needs of the customer, and ensures Inclusive Design, Accessibility and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are met.
Accessibility Specialists requires a strong understanding of design (including Inclusive Design), User Experience, Accessibility and WCAG best practice. They work with business and ICT to design solid inclusive and accessible user experiences.
They also undertake Accessibility Assessments of solutions under development, in testing, and/or in production - providing reports of findings to stakeholders, and support for developers working to fix issues identified. Accessibility Specialists will work under limited direction of senior staff and exercise initiative to make decisions based on judgement, skills and knowledge.
They consider competing priorities when managing their work. As part of Connection, Identity and Authentication branch, Accessibility Specialists will be responsible for providing accessibility and inclusive design advice and innovative solutions for Services Australia digital platforms.
**Key Tasks/Duties**:
Provide Inclusive Design, Accessibility and WCAG advice for business and ICT solutions and documentation across the lifetime of the project to ensure digital products are developed in the right way.
- Work in collaboration with user experience and interface designers to ensure designs meet user and business needs, and comply with relevant patterns, which reflect Inclusive Design, Accessibility and WCAG.
- Undertake accessibility assessments of prototypes, PIT/SIT and production versions of services and provide reports to teams across the agency capturing insights and providing recommendations, to support developers creating solutions or investigating and fixing issues
- Build awareness and deliver capability uplift of Inclusive Design, Accessibility and WCAG, in projects and across the agency.
- Maintain and update accessibility practices and documentation.
- Understanding of HTML/CSS.
- Build rapport, collaborate and communicate with influence to support the agency’s transformation agenda.
