About the Role
Ahrens Group – Steel SA takes pride in delivering high-quality structural steel solutions, and we are looking for skilled Boilermakers/Welders to join our team at our well-established steel fabrication facility based in Kingsford, South Australia.
In this role, you will be working on precision fabrication and welding of structural steel components for major projects.
To be successful, you must have proven experience in fabricating and welding heavy structural steel.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret drawings, work orders, and production schedules to determine job requirements.
Safely operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment to meet specifications and Australian Standards.
Set up and use fabrication tools and equipment, including welding machines, grinders, and carbon rod gauging tools.
Label, sort, and organise plate materials into product groups.
Mark out, cut, drill, or punch holes in plate materials as per fabrication drawings.
Layout, align, and assemble components in line with drawings and tolerances.
Carry out mechanical cutting of steel and prepare cutting lists from drawings.
Accurately measure and cut raw materials using appropriate tools.
Move steel within the workshop using overhead cranes and forklifts (with the correct licence/authorisation).
Transfer fabricated components between departments to meet production schedules.
Perform other workshop, paint/blast bay, and yard duties as required by Management.
Skills and Experience
Trade Qualification in Boilermaking / Welding and experience in a similar position.
Be able to read, interpret and fabricate from workshop drawings.
Strong aptitude in the mig weld process as well as ability to perform various types of welds procedures;
Previous experience in structural steel fabrication.
Willingness to work reasonable overtime offered.
