About Us

At NBRS we strive to shape social culture through life‐changing environments. As a multi‐disciplinary design practice, NBRS works as an integrated team with expertise in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Heritage, and Interior Design. We operate through three studio locations in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

The NBRS Heritage team is a mix of heritage architects, consultants and historians who provide the full range of specialist heritage consulting services. Established over 50 years ago, we have extensive experience working with sites of Commonwealth, State and local significance at all scales – from small cottages to city buildings and complex sites.

About The Role

As a Senior Heritage Consultant you will actively provide heritage advice and prepare heritage reports such as assessments, heritage impact statements, conservation management plans and interpretation plans. You will work across all phases of a project from site visit to submission and implementation, both on your own and as part of a team. Your work will involve direct liaison with clients, architects and authorities, and you will provide verbal and written advice on heritage issues, including conservation works. You will also manage project programmes and budgeting and maintain high quality client and stakeholder relationships. This is a "hands on" opportunity, and we are seeking a real team player with a positive attitude, no matter how big or small the project. In this role you will be supported by the Studio Principal and the rest of the team, while upholding the ethos, strategies, and design direction of NBRS.

Responsibilities

* Provide heritage advice and produce high quality heritage reports (CMPs, HIS, interpretation plans).

Qualifications

* A recognised accredited degree in Architecture, Heritage Conservation, or a related discipline.
* 5+ years of experience working as a Heritage Consultant or in a similar role.
* Strong ability to work autonomously to produce quality Conservation Management Plans, Heritage Impact Statements and other heritage reports, and provide heritage advice in a professional manner.
* Holistic understanding of heritage management issues, including appreciation of built heritage and movable heritage/collections.
* Sound knowledge of conservation policies and practice, and suitable experience in heritage conservation work.
* Considerable practical experience in heritage management of the built environment and cultural landscapes.
* Ability to be involved in multiple projects with differing levels of complexity.
* Strong organisational and time‐management skills.
* Well‐developed communication skills.
* Ability to engage and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Membership of Australia ICOMOS (desirable).

Benefits

* 9‐day fortnight.
* Flexible working environment.
* Professional development and training opportunities.
* Great opportunities to progress within the company.
* Supportive, inclusive, and high‐performing work culture.
* Focus on social and community impact.
* Commitment to sustainability with carbon‐zero initiatives.

We promote an inclusive culture that respects and celebrates our unique abilities and differences. With us you will join a team that promotes flexibility, cares about personal well‐being, and encourages growth. We offer a competitive salary, benefits package, and a supportive work environment that values creativity and innovation.
