Drive impact and shape Banyule's future as our Infrastructure Operations Coordinator

Are you ready to lead a team that keeps our city safe, sustainable, and thriving? Are you passionate about building safe, sustainable communities? We're looking for a passionate leader to help us deliver excellence every day.

As the Operations Infrastructure Coordinator you'll provide clear and visible leadership and coordination of Banyule's roads, drainage, and infrastructure maintenance services, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard that enhances community amenity, supports environmental sustainability, and aligns with Council's strategic goals.

This role is part of Banyule's Leadership Network – you'll have opportunities to grow your skills and experience of leadership in a Local Government context and develop your skills as an organisational leader beyond your role‑based expertise.

Why you'll love this role and what you'll be doing

At its heart, this is a people leadership position – you will provide visible, effective leadership across drainage, road, and infrastructure maintenance teams, building a positive, engaged, and high‑performing workforce. You will also ensure services are delivered safely and responsibly, with full compliance to the Road Management Plan, OH&S Act 2004, and other legislative and Council requirements.

A day in this role will see you use your diverse skills in a variety of settings:

* Impactful leadership – a chance to lead teams that deliver services the community sees and relies on every day (roads, drains, public spaces).
* Shaping the City – direct influence on how Banyule looks, feels, and functions, contributing to safe, clean, and sustainable places.
* Strategic + hands‑on – The role combines big‑picture planning (budgets, compliance, strategy) with tangible service delivery. You can see your decisions turn into real results on the ground.
* Professional growth – leading multi‑disciplinary teams, manage significant budgets, and engage with councillors, contractors, and community stakeholders.
* Sustainability focus – Direct contribution to environmental outcomes, compliance with the Road Management Plan, and embedding best practice.

What you'll bring / what we are looking for

* Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (or related discipline) with extensive experience leading the delivery of road infrastructure and drainage maintenance.
* Demonstrated ability to lead a multi‑disciplinary workforce, supporting staff performance and development in a positive environment, with an ability to foster teamwork, resolve conflict constructively, and motivate staff to perform at their best.
* Proven experience in managing service delivery, projects, contracts, and budgets.
* Ability to align services with Council's strategic objectives and translate plans into effective operational outcomes.
* Track record in driving continuous improvement and responding flexibly to changing demands.
* Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and presentations.
* Skilled in negotiation, consultation, and engaging diverse stakeholders to build cooperation and achieve solutions.

What's on offer

* A permanent, full‑time position, salary from $127,378.47 to $142,362.88 per annum (excluding Super).
* 26 weeks of paid parental leave – primary carer / 4 weeks of paid parental leave – partner.
* Flexible work and leave arrangements, with a monthly RDO.
* A senior role – part of Banyule's Leadership Network.
* Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC).
* Psychometric assessment.
* Driver's licence.
