Job DescriptionSGS is seeking a full-time Chemist for a 12-month parental leave cover position to join the team on Curtis IslandResponsibilities include, however not limited to:Laboratory operations and field sampling on the Curtis Is facility.Testing of cargo for assay of LNG and reporting to market requirements.Testing of waters, wastewaters and access in LNG plant.Provide chemical analysis of routine and non-routine samples as directed by the Client on an as required basis.Instigate, direct and control off-site chemical analysis for environmental, in-process hydrocarbon and LNG product testingProvide sample containers, collection, freight and analysis in a cost effective, timely, accurate and safe manner for off-site analysis.QualificationsIdeally the candidate will have the following:Tertiary qualification in Chemistry or related disciplineMinimum of 2 years experience in an oil and gas industry laboratory with particular experience in analytical testing of water, liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons or similar would be favourable.Experience in the operation, optimisation and basic maintenance of analytical instruments, particularly gas chromatography, UV/Vis photometry and titrimetric instrumentsExperience and hazard awareness associated with operating live gas plant sampling stationsFavorable to have NATA/ISO 17025 accreditation experience for a chemical testing laboratoryExperience in the use of a LIMSAdditional InformationWHY WORK FOR SGS?
