Every child and young person deserves a great education. We have a strategy that aims to unlock every child’s potential now and into the future, in partnership with learners, students, parents, and the wider South Australian community, to build a world-leading public education system. This system is equitable and prioritizes learning and wellbeing. Together, we will make our education system the best it can be. When our children and young people thrive, so do our communities and our state.
About the Role :
Children’s Centres for Early Childhood Development and Parenting provide a statewide network of integrated health, family support, education, and care services hubs for families with young children, focusing on the first 1000 days of life. This initiative plays a key role in enhancing early childhood development outcomes. The Children’s Centre Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology program, delivered through Student Support Services, offers both universal and targeted support to families with young children to promote development, responsive caregiving, and to address developmental difficulties and reduce impacts of disadvantage. This is achieved through collaboration with families and colleagues at children’s centres to provide a broad range of professional, direct, and indirect services at individual, group, and whole-site levels.
As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, the Senior Occupational Therapist contributes to clinical governance, provides supervision, and offers professional support and development to Occupational Therapists working in Children’s Centres and Student Support Services across the state. The role involves working closely with AHP2 Occupational Therapists, Children’s Centres Leaders, and the Senior Speech Pathologist to ensure the delivery of high-quality, integrated services that support family functioning and improve child development.
The Senior Occupational Therapist is responsible for maintaining professional practice and service delivery standards specific to occupational therapy in Children’s Centres, providing discipline-specific knowledge for the implementation, development, and evaluation of occupational therapy services within these centres.
This position reports to the Statewide Services Operations Manager and is supervised by the Principal Occupational Therapist. The Senior Occupational Therapist will regularly connect with other Occupational Therapists to support their professional growth and service delivery.
