Interested in joining our Ningaloo Visitor Centre Team for the 2026 season? Express your interest today for available casual positions with the Shire of Exmouth. We are seeking highly motivated Customer Service Officers to join our Ningaloo Visitor Centre (NVC) team on a casual basis.
Reporting to the Coordinator Aquarium and Tourism Services, this role is the first point of contact for visitors and customers visiting, residing in, or planning to visit the Ningaloo area. The Customer Service Officer is responsible for essential day-to-day activities of the NVC to provide customer service excellence and promote the Ningaloo Aquarium & Discovery Centre (NADC) and the Ningaloo destination.
In this role you will confidently provide general tourism information for visitors to Exmouth and the Ningaloo region and provide support to tourism related activities. This role involves operating the electronic point of sales system for the sale of tickets, tours and merchandise, including accurately and efficiently using online booking platforms, cash handling and electronic payment processing. The team is responsible for preparing the centre/store for daily visitation, including opening and closing procedures, by ensuring the NVC presents as a professional, modern, clean and highly welcoming visitor facility.
Responsibilities
* Provide exceptional customer service and information to visitors and residents in the Ningaloo region.
* Operate the electronic point of sale system for tickets, tours and merchandise, including online bookings, cash handling and electronic payments.
* Prepare the centre for daily visitation, including opening and closing procedures, to present a professional and welcoming facility.
Qualifications and Skills
* Friendly and customer-focused with well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and computer literacy, including Microsoft programs and online booking platforms.
* Understanding of the tourism industry is preferred; a certificate in tourism, tour guiding or relevant experience is highly regarded but not essential.
Hours and Remuneration
* Hours are rostered across a 7-day operation. Weekend and public holiday work is required and attracts penalty rates.
* Position classified as Level 4 under the Shire of Exmouth Industrial Agreement 2025 with the following remuneration benefits:
* Base rate of $36.11 per hour (excluding 25% casual loading)
* Weekend and public holiday penalty rates
* Location allowance of $2,002 per annum (pro-rata for Casual)
* Up to 22% Superannuation (includes co-contribution by you)
* Eligibility for long service leave after 7 years of service (conditions apply), uniform allowance, employee assistance program and other well-being services.
