Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a team of process/chemical personnel, estimate project staffing needs, and schedule and assign work. You will prepare estimates and work plans and review and approve process/chemical investigations and studies. Your leadership and technical expertise will ensure process safety and compliance, client satisfaction, resolution of issues, and that project requirements are met.
The position is designated as part‐time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in‐person attendance per week at the assigned office or project.
You will be responsible for coordination of the production of technical drawings, calculations, specifications for a project's process design, and support and review engineering developed by third‐party engineering service providers.
As a senior process engineer you will facilitate technical discussions and design reviews, review vendor information, project and client design specifications and collaborate on discipline design inputs. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure designs comply with all applicable regulations and standards.
This role will be responsible for the process design of surface infrastructure inclusive of all air, water, fuel and reagent utilities services, and overview of mining bulk handling and process plant design by external consultants.
Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's ROM to tailings mechanical requirements are met.
Major Responsibilities:
* Plans, develops, directs, and participates in the day‐to‐day Process/Chemical engineering activity on small to medium sized projects or a portion of a major project with minimal to moderate complexity within a global business unit utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
* Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of personnel assigned, estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work accordingly
* Provides the technical input to meet procurement requirements and the requirements of related discipline procurement
* Prepares or oversees the preparation of Process/Chemical discipline estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly
* Reviews and makes recommendations of the Process/Chemical engineering aspects of bid evaluations and awards for approval by project engineering
* When directed, coordinates with client representatives to obtain their approval of Process/Chemical engineering aspects of the work
* Reviews and approves key calculations, licensing evaluations, design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned
* Ensures that assigned Process/Chemical engineering personnel receive appropriate on‐the‐job training for their professional development
* Assists in the preparation and reviews of project procedures and cost estimates for proposals, forecasts, and change orders
Education and Experience Requirements:
* Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10‐13 years of relevant experience or 14‐17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
* A recognized degree in Metallurgical, Chemical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited College or University.
* Demonstrated capability of Process EGS and Supervisor for hydrometallurgical process flowsheets for Feasibility study to EPCM execution
* Broad commodities knowledge of processes for copper and gold flowsheets
* Ability to work in multinational project team group
* Knowledge of process systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computers in the discipline.
* Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
* Knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines.
* Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved.
* Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards, and design and/or layout criteria pertinent to the particular discipline.
* Skill in oral and written communication.
* Knowledge of Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Design Guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) and administrative practices.
* Demonstrated skill in leadership.
* Knowledge of application and coordination of 2‐D and 3‐D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools on a project.
* Broad progressive work experience in design engineering, science or other relevant types of engineering such as systems startup, field engineering or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants, or engineering/construction firms.
