Position Information
Kincumber High School is a coeducational, comprehensive secondary school proudly serving the Kincumber, Avoca Beach, Copacabana and Pretty Beach areas of the Central Coast. The school's mission is to "achieve and excel" and our strong welfare programs support a friendly and inclusive student body. In 2026 the student population is 1,000, including 52 students in the Student Support Unit. Support students are integrated across the school and make a considerable contribution to the social fabric of our school community. The school is also proud to have an Aboriginal enrolment of 64 students and we are a member of the Tjudibaring Aboriginal Education Consultative Group. Kincumber High School is pleased to be a member of the Kincumba Learning Community and together with our partner primary schools, Avoca Beach, Copacabana, Pretty Beach and Kincumber, who work collaboratively to provide a community of schools that value public education for all. Kincumber High School has a strong academic emphasis and a well-deserved reputation for sporting prowess. In addition, music, the visual and performing arts, community service and leadership programs are all vibrant and successful across all groups in the school. The Agriculture farm is also a vibrant part of the school and provides many opportunities for students to be involved in a range of diverse programs.
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 1. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with the executive team to lead, manage and implement initiatives aligned to whole-school strategic directions, with a clear focus on improving student learning, engagement and school-wide improvement.
2. Demonstrated ability to lead staff in the development, implementation and evaluation of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment practices, with a specific focus on Explicit Instruction to support effective implementation of the new syllabus, while aligning faculty practice with Department of Education priorities, including High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE).
3. Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal, communication and leadership skills, with evidence of building the capacity of the PDHPE faculty to embed a culture of high expectations, professional growth and continuous improvement, while fostering positive, productive relationships across the wider school community.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
