Description Reporting to the Commercial Financial Leader the Payroll Team Leader, you will oversee the full payroll cycle across multiple entities, lead and mentor a dedicated payroll team, and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements. You will also contribute to process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and effective integration with HR and finance platforms. Roster: Full-time roster of 5 days on / 2 days off (Monday to Friday) based at our Milton office Flexible working arrangements, including up to 2 days per week working from home Responsibilities Lead the team and perform end-to-end payroll processing across multiple entities (Australia and PNG) ensuring accuracy and on time payment for over 1500 staff. Oversee calculations, deductions, superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax, and statutory compliance. Maintain and improve all manual and automated payroll processes, policies, and documentation. Conduct audits to ensure data integrity and adherence to regulations. Oversee annual projects, including performance payments and reconciliations. Support enhancements to payroll systems (Pronto or similar). Prepare workers’ compensation and payroll tax returns, plus management reporting. Provide timely support to internal stakeholders on payroll matters. Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure seamless integration of systems and data. Lead staff development, performance reviews, and training. Qualifications Essential criteria: Minimum 6 years’ payroll experience, including team leadership. Strong knowledge of PAYG, FBT, payroll tax, EEO principles and relevant legislation. Solid understanding of industrial awards, EBAs, employment contracts and salary structures. Experience with computerised payroll systems (Pronto or similar). Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. High attention to numeric accuracy, tact, diplomacy, and assertiveness. Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in Payroll, Finance, or Accounting.
