Plant Metallurgist – PLS, Pilgangoora Operation

Overview
The Plant Metallurgist reports to the Senior Metallurgist and is responsible for ensuring concentrate production and associated processing unit operations are controlled in a cost‑effective and efficient manner. The role includes overseeing metallurgical performance and driving improvement initiatives at the Pilgangoora hard‑rock lithium operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate stewardship in health, safety, and environmental policies to meet site, corporate, and legislative requirements.
- Generate and maintain daily and weekly metallurgical production reports, ensuring targets are met and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Provide technical knowledge, training, and mentoring for graduate metallurgists, process technicians, metallurgical technicians and other team members.
- Review and analyse past production performance, compare to budgeted and forecasted specifications, and provide suggested improvement options.
- Take necessary actions to ensure that concentrate quality meets contract and target specifications.
- Maintain, monitor and identify improvement opportunities of process control systems such as Citect, PowerBI, etc.
- Carry out plant surveys and mass balances to maintain and improve plant performance.
- Conduct laboratory trials and generate associated test work reports to evaluate production improvement opportunities.
About You
- Degree qualified in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering with exposure to a similar role.
- Prior knowledge and experience in heavy media separation and flotation desirable.
- Experience in management and implementation of continuous improvement projects.
- Experience and qualification as a radiation safety officer desirable.
- Proactive in identifying and implementing improvement opportunities.
- Desire to take on diverse responsibilities and work in small teams.
