About the role
The Education Assistant's role is to support a team which provides high quality Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) to children. This role is 15 hours per week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and will be based across our three centres in Burleigh, Currumbin, and Coomera. Hourly rate is $35.51.
What you'll be doing
* Collaborate with the Lead Educator on a daily basis.
* Provide a warm, nurturing and safe environment that encourages the development of the whole child
* Aim to facilitate a smooth transition into prep
* Helping strengthen the cultural identity of the child
* Planning experiences that are based on children's current interests and strengths
* A variety of different types of work (including light physical outdoor work and indoor written work)
* Acting as a support network for families
* Assist with general cleaning of the facilities.
* Drive the centre bus when required.
About You
You're someone who:
* Builds strong, respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
* Brings experience in working with pre-school aged children
* Has awareness of current legislation governing Early Childhood Education and Care including the National Framework
* Is passionate about making a positive impact and supporting others with heart and purpose
Requirements
* A Blue Card for working with children ('No Card No Start' policy applies)
* National police check
* Current drivers' license.
* LCS2 clearance withing 3 months of commencing employment (this is a risk-assessed role under the Child Protection Act 1999)
* *IDENTIFIED POSITION - To perform this role it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders. A Confirmation of Aboriginality will need to be provided.
