About the role:
The Principal Psychologist is responsible for coordinating and managing the delivery of programs and services aimed at reducing re-offending. These programs vary according to the prisoner cohort but include treatment readiness, violence intervention, problem solving, cognitive deficits, and substance abuse. The Principal Psychologist provides guidance, clinical supervision, coaching, and mentoring to the clinical team, while maintaining a small client caseload at a senior practitioner level. They foster strong, collaborative relationships with all Centre departments, including custodial operations, vocational services, health services, and rehabilitation and reintegration services. The role requires experienced psychologists with leadership and team management skills.
Criteria:
* Current registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
* Experience in leading or mentoring clinical teams
* Strong skills in psychological assessment and therapeutic work
* A team-focused, results-driven mindset
* Excellent communication skills and ability to build positive relationships
* Emotional resilience, professional integrity, and a passion for evidence-informed care
* Keen interest in collaborative, forward-thinking rehabilitation models
Desirable Extras:
* Experience in correctional, forensic, or complex mental health environments
* AHPRA endorsement as a Board-approved supervisor
