Senior Technical Business Analyst – Federal Government Regulator

You will join a highly skilled, collaborative technology and business team working within the Registry Connect Program, supporting national digital transformation initiatives that impact millions of Australians.
Your new role
As a Senior Technical Business Analyst, you will act as the vital link between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams to support complex systems enhancements and regulatory technology initiatives. The role is a contract position until October 2026.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading the elicitation, analysis and documentation of business, functional and non‑functional requirements
Facilitating workshops with SMEs, product teams and IT stakeholders
Applying a strong technical lens to business needs to shape effective, modern technology solutions
Developing process maps, "as‑is" and "to‑be" models, and supporting solution design
Creating clear documentation including user stories, business requirements, UI designs and accessibility‑aligned artefacts
Supporting test planning, UAT and implementation activities
Guiding and mentoring junior Business Analysts to support project success
Working across a fast‑paced environment with multiple concurrent initiatives
This role offers the opportunity to influence high‑profile, nationally significant programs.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
Tertiary qualifications in IT or related discipline
Active NV1 clearance
Strong experience as a Technical BA within complex enterprise environments
Excellent understanding of SDLC, Agile delivery and requirements management frameworks
Proven capability in process modelling (BPMN), data analysis and user‑centred design
Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications for design, development and testing teams
Strong analytical, problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels
Ability to work independently, manage multiple workstreams and deliver high‑quality outcomes
Experience mentoring other BAs is highly regarded
Australian Citizenship is essential due to Federal Government security clearance requirements
