**SMS Mining Services is a privately owned, West Australian based Mining Contractor. Founded in 2000, SMS has progressed from being solely Equipment Rental to now having extensive involvement in the Maintenance, Contract Mining and Drill and Blast Divisions.**

**Key Responsibilities**:
- Undertake end to end processing of fortnightly payroll cycles for a large employee base of award employees
- Maintain employee records in the HR system, ensuring personnel information and remuneration arrangements comply with awards, employment contracts and enterprise agreements
- Process salary monthly pay-runs, including liaising with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate authorisations in place
- Assist with month end payroll reporting
- Process superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax and child support payments
- Monitor and process employee leave requests
- Manage varying complex payroll calculations in relation to terminations, redundancies, entitlements, and deductions and completing necessary compliance documentation
- Administer employee membership of superannuation funds including collation of data on commencement dates, termination dates salary details as required
- Review employee entitlements (e.g. leave credits and accruals and superannuation) ensuring that the information is correct on the system through a systematic audit process
- Work in conjunction with the HR & Finance Teams to ensure data is correct and assist with ad-hoc reporting requirements
- Manage payroll queries in a professional, timely and efficient manner
- Reconciling annual PAYG withholding reported to ATO with fortnightly reports via STP
- Assist running the end of financial year processes
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management of needed actions
**Skills and Experience Required**:
- Minimum of 5 years mining / FIFO Payroll experience in the mining sector (essential)
- Payroll Administrator Certificate (essential)
- Vast knowledge of payroll practices, including but not limited to ATO, Super, and Industrial Legislation
- High level of accuracy, aiming for payment errors less than 1% of total payroll disbursement
- Demonstrated systematic and methodical approach to problem solving
- Autonomous individual with the ability to take initiative and use lateral thinking skills to develop solutions
- High attention to detail
- Sound numeracy skills
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
