From equipment hire to securing permits and creating detailed plans, we take care of every aspect of traffic control. Our team works closely with clients to understand their unique requirements, delivering customised solutions that exceed expectations.We are looking for a Road Design Drafter Officer (Architectural) to join the team! In this role, you will focus on creating detailed and accurate drawings and plans. This involves translating projects into technical drawings while ensuring that these documents meet client requirements and adhere to regulatory standards. This is a full-time ongoing position, working 38 hours per week based in Illawong, NSW.Main tasks:· Traffic Control Plan Drafting: Utilize AutoCAD, RapidPlan, and other CAD software to produce 2D Traffic Control Plans (TCPs), illustrating the safe and compliant movement of vehicles and pedestrians around construction or event zones. Include all necessary traffic devices such as signs, cones, barriers, detours, and lane closures.· Site Analysis & Plan Accuracy: Use GIS data, aerial imagery, and site-specific measurements to ensure plans are accurate and reflect real-world conditions.· Technical Documentation: Write specifications for construction methods, materials, and finishes relevant to traffic control infrastructure. Ensure all drafting outputs align with Australian Standards (e.g., AS 1742 series), Austroads guidelines, and relevant zoning regulations.· Drawing Interpretation & Translation: Interpret engineering and construction drawings, translating civil and architectural plans into compliant, site-specific traffic management solutions.· Project Collaboration: Work closely with traffic engineers, surveyors, and project managers to ensure all plans are accurate, feasible, and align with operational objectives.· Regulatory Compliance & Support: Provide technical advice during the planning phase to ensure all drawings meet local, NSW, and federal traffic regulations. Stay up to date with changes to codes and legislation impacting temporary traffic management.· Plan Revisions & Submissions: Update drawings to incorporate site conditions, regulatory changes, or authority feedback. Submit revised plans for internal review or to clients, typically not directly to authorities without an engineer’s sign-off.· Permitting & Approvals: Assist in preparing and submitting applications for road occupancy permits, lane closures, and occupation certificates. Support clients in navigating local approval processes.· Timeline & Resource Coordination: Develop and maintain drafting schedules to align with project milestones.· Site Inspections & Issue Resolution: Participate in site visits as needed to verify compliance with drafted TCPs.· Documentation & Data Management: Maintain organized records of all drafted plans, revisions, and approvals.· Professional Development: Continuously improve technical drafting capabilities and regulatory knowledge through ongoing training and professional development.Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience:- Minimum of a relevant Diploma, and at least 1 year industry experience within the past 5 years.- At least 3 years’ industry experience may substitute the relevant qualification.Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge:- Proficiency with design software and tools, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies or systems as needed.- Adjusting to changes in project scope, design requirements, or deadlines and remaining flexible in response to feedback.- Keeping track of project details, documentation, and schedules in an orderly and efficient manner.- Excellent communications skills and attention to detail.We acknowledge and appreciate the values of equal employment opportunity and cultural diversity within the workplace.
